O meu irmão dizia há tempos que o ‘Dancing Queen’ dos ABBA não era uma música alegre. Eu também acho que não.

A rapariga está sozinha, ‘looking out for the place to go’. Obviamente que está desesperada e entra em jogos de sedução, ‘leave them burning and then you’re gone, looking out for another, anyone will do’. Mas o que acontece quando a música acaba?

Os ABBA estão altamente subvalorizados.

Vou passar a noite envolto nisto.

Depois da primeira audição de AM-FM percebe-se que os The Gift estão diferentes. Não são os Gift épicos de Film, nem os Gift mais imediatos de Vinyl. São agora uns Gift meticulosos, mais dados à electrónica e que não se importam de piscar o olho à Islândia. A Sónia Tavares gostaria talvez de se chamar Sönja e ser parecida com a Björk; o resto da banda não se importaria de ser como os Múm ou os Sigur Rós – e isso nota-se demais neste disco. Mas adiante.

O álbum é bom: as canções são mais maduras, as letras também. ‘Driving You Slow’ tem potencial para ser um hino pós ‘Ok! Do You Want Something Simple?’, ‘Music’ é uma das melodias mais bem conseguidas do grupo – e um dos melhores temas do disco – e há ainda campo para algumas novidades, como a sonoridade mais r&b de ‘11.33’.

Para ouvir, mas com cuidado.
